เราสามารถใช้หลัก keep + Ving เพื่อบอกความหมายว่า ทำอะไรต่อไป

-หนึ่งในความฉงนทางวัฒนธรรมของประเทศไทยที่เกิดกับชาวต่างชาติก็คือว่าคนมักจะตีหน้ายิ้มเอาไว้แม้เหตุการณ์จะไม่ได้เป็นใจให้ ดังนั้นอย่าประหลาดใจเมื่อคุณหิวจนพาลอารมณ์เสียเพราะพนักงานเสิร์ฟนำอาหารผิดจานมาให้ แต่เธอก็ขอโทษและตีสีหน้ายิ้มเอาไว้
One of a Thailand's culture shocks to foreigners is that people tend to keep wearing smiling face even though a situation is unfavourable. Then don't be surprise when you are hungry to lose your temper as a waitress brings you a wrong dish but she apologizes and keeps wearing smiling face.
หมายเหตุ: การใช้ keep+adjective หรือ keep + V3 ก็มีใช้ ได้ความหมายตรงกับภาษาไทยว่า "..........(เป็นอย่างไร/รักษาสภาพอย่างไร)..........เอาไว้"
เช่น
เงียบเอาไว้ Keep quiet.
อดทนเอาไว้ Keep patient.
เย็นเอาไว้/ใจเย็นเอาไว้ Keep calm.
ทุกคน ใจเย็นเอาไว้นะ Everyone (Everybody) , keep calm.

มีอีก 2 คำ คือ go on และ further โดยมีวิธีใช้(ไม่ยาก)ตามนี้
-go on สามารถ ใช้แทน keep หรือ keep on ได้เลย
-further ใช้แทน keep หรือ keep on ได้เลย ถ้าให้ further เป็นคำกริยา (verb)
-further ใช้วางเติมในประโยค (ปกติวางไว้ท้ายกริยา) ถ้าให้ further เป็น กริยาวิเศษณ์ (adverb) หรือ ถ้าใช้เป็นคุณศัพท์ (adjective) ก็ให้วางขยายหน้าคำนาม
ประโยคตัวอย่าง
1. ปีนขึ้นไปต่ออีก10นาที
-Keep climbing for 10 minutes.
-Keep on climbing for 10 minutes.
-Go on climbing for 10 minutes.
-Further climbing for 10 minutes.
-Climb further for 10 minutes.
2. ทางบริษัทเราพยายามที่สุดที่จะให้ได้นักท่องเที่ยวเข้ามาอีก
-Our company tries our best to keep gaining tourists.
-Our company tries our best to keep on gaining tourists.
-Our company tries our best to go on gaining tourists
-Our company tries our best to further gaining tourists
-Our company tries our best to gain tourists further. (further ใช้เป็น adverb)
-Our company tries our best to gain further tourists. (further ใช้เป็น adjective)
3. กองทัพสยามไม่สามรถเคลื่อนทัพไปข้างหน้าต่ออีก เนื่องจากการสวรรคตปัจจุบันทันด่วนของพระนเรศวร (พระเอกาทศรถตัดสินใจให้ถอนทัพกลับอยุธยา)

-The Siamese army could not keep on advancing due to the sudden death of King Naret.
-The Siamese army could not go on advancing due to the sudden death of King Naret.
