Santa Cruz Church ,Bangkok โบสถ์ซานตาครูส(ซางตาครูส)

This  Italian style Catholic church was built in 1914 to replace the old ones built in 1769 and  1830 respectively. โบสถ์ฝรั่งคาทอลิคในรูปแบบอิตาลีแห่งนี้สร้างในปี ค.ศ.๑๙๑๔ เพื่อแทนของเก่าที่สร้างในปี ค.ศ. ๑๗๖๙ และ ๑๘๓๐ ตามลำดับ        The church is named  in Thai as 'The Church of the Chinese monastic residence'  for it is  situated next to the Chinese residence and monastery.โบสถ์ฝรั่งนี้เรียกชื่อในภาษาไทยว่า 'โบสถ์ฝรั่งกุฎีจีน' ด้วยเพราะว่าตั้งอยู่ติดกับที่อยู่และวัดของชาวจีน   The compound surrounding the church used to be a general  community of the Portuguese who followed  the former king ,Taksin, to establish  the west  bank of  the Chaophraya  river as the new capital  after the fall of  Ayutthaya,the old capital in 1767..บริเวณรอบๆโบสถ์ฝรั่งนี้เคยเป็นชุมชนใหญ่ของชาวโปรตุเกสที่ติดตามอดีตกษัตริย์คือพระเจ้าตากสินมาสถาปนาฝั่งตะวันตกของแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยาเป็นเมืองหลวงใหม่ หลังการล่มสลายของอยุธยาเมืองหลวงเก่าในปี ค.ศ. ๑๗๖๗     Most of the villagers living around the church,having become Thai, are still  Catholic,following   their Portuguese ancestors.ชาวบ้านส่วนใหญ่ที่อาศัยแถวโบสถ์ฝรั่งนี้ซึ่งกลายเป็นคนไทยไปแล้วก็ยังคงเป็นชาวคริสต์คาทอลิคตามบรรพบุรุษชาวโปรตุเกสของตน
