The Bridge Over the River Kwai as seen nowadays is one of  the two original bridges which were built at the  same time สะพานข้ามแม่น้ำแควอย่างที่เห็นในปัจจุบันนี้เป็นหนึ่งในสะพานดั้งเดิมสองแห่ง(สองสะพาน)ที่สร้างขึ้นมาพร้อมกัน    There is only one ,the steel, left  because the other one , the wooden ,was demolished. มีสะพานเหล็กเหลืออยู่สะพานเดียวเพราะว่าสะพานไม้ถูกรื้อไปแล้ว  This bridge concerns the death of both Asian labourers and the Allied prisoners-of-war. สะพานแห่งนี้เกี่ยวข้องกับความตายของทั้งกรรมกรชาวเอเชียและเชลยศึกสัมพันธมิตร 

Over 100,000 labourers  and  some 61,700 prisoners-of-war  were brought by the Japanese to build the 415 kilometer railway to link Thailand and Burma.แรงงานกว่า๑๐๐,๐๐๐คนและเชลศึกสงครามประมาณ๖๑,๗๐๐นาย ถูกญี่ปุ่นนำมาสร้างทางรถไฟยาว๔๑๕กิโลเมตรเพื่อเชื่อมต่อประเทศไทยกับพม่า

Unfortunately, a number of people died due to various causes such as disease and  starvation. ช่างโชคร้ายที่คนจำนวนมากต้องมาตายด้วยเหตุต่างๆ เช่นโรคภัยและความอดอยาก  Then the railway was later named  the Death Railway.ดังนั้นทางรถไฟสายนี้จึงถูกขนานนามต่อมาว่าทางรถไฟสายมรณะ  It is estimated  that  over  49,000 Asian people and 16,000 prisoners-of-war  died in the construction.ประมาณกันว่าคนชาวเอเซียกว่า๔๙,๐๐๐คน และเชลยศึกสงคราม ๑๖,๐๐๐นาย เสียชีวิตในการก่อสร้าง The bridge became a tourist attraction of  Thailand after the film of  Hollywood in 1957 earned 7 Oscar Awards,though the detail of the film seems to be a fiction.สะพานข้ามแม่น้ำแควกลายเป็นแหล่งท่องเที่ยวอีกแห่งหนึ่งของไทยหลังจากภาพยนตร์ฮอลลีวู้ดได้รางวัลออสการ์มา๗รางวัล ในปีค.ศ.๑๙๕๗  ถึงแม้ว่ารายละเอียดในภาพยนตร์จะดูเป็นเรื่องแต่งขึ้นก็ตาม       A highlight of  The River Kwai tour is an exciting and dangerous-looking  atmosphere of a railway trip to the Death Railway's wooden via duct.จุดสำคัญอย่างหนึ่งของการมาเที่ยวแม่น้ำแควคือบรรยากาศอันตื่นเต้นและเสี่ยงอันตรายจากการเดินทางด้วยรถไฟไปยังโค้งมรณะ

This is a cemetery of  Allied prisoner-of-war called the cemetery of Kanchanaburi or Donrak cemetery.  It was made about 9 years after the end of  the second world  war.  It covers an area of 7 acres.    It is a cemetery that keeps the crematory ashes of  the prisoners-of-war who died during the construction of  the Thai-Burma Death Railway.  They died due to various causes such as starvation ,brutality and disease.  During the war time ,their bodies were buried in the jungle.  After the war, they were exhumed to cremate(or to be cremated) and were transferred to this cemetery.
